It’s said that a new K110 hill is going to be built in the middle of Harz mountains in Braunlage in Germany. Is this plan going to have a happy end?
Athletes, who start their ski jumping adventure in WSV Braunlage when they are 14-15 years old and still want to practice the sport, have move to Oberhof where they have the facilities they need.
Jens Koch, who isn’t only the president of the WSV Braunlage but also coach the youngsters together with Jens Riemann and Maximilian Kaiser, presented the construction plans. The cost of such a hill is around 5,5-6 million euro. “The hill wouldn’t only be a sports area but also a touristic point.” – said Koch. The tower would be a vantage point with a cafe. The hill would be build in the place of already not used K70 hill in Brockenweg. The K point would be situated on 110 m and HS would be 117 m.
The plan looks realistic. Also Jens Koch believes that they will find sponsors who will be willing to give 600.000 euro which would let them start the construction and get financial support for the rest of the expenses. (90%).
In the past, there was a normal hill – Wurmbergschanze, but due to several demages it had been closed in the end of 2013 after which the tower got demolished.
