WC: Stoch wins in Zakopane

Author: Andrea Brandmüller, Published:

Kamil Stoch unexpectedly celebrated the victory in front of his home crowd in Zakopane. He beat Stefan Kraft and Dawid Kubacki.

The athlete from Zakopane, Kamil Stoch, jumped 137.5m and 140m which lead him to the victory. Even though Stefan Kraft suffered from pain in his back, he managed to jump 136m and 138m. Thus, the Austrian was rewarded with the second place. Dawid Kubacki was first after the first round, but could not entirely profit from the support the crazy audience had given him during his last jump. The Pole jumped 140m and 133m and therefore finished on the third place.

Stephan Leyhe once again reached the fourth place (139m & 134m), followed by his team-mate and current WC leader Karl Geiger (134m & 136m).

Geiger remains leader of the World Cup (931p.) ahead of Stefan Kraft (883p.) and Ryoyu Kobayashi (831p.).

The next WC will be held in Sapporo from Jan 31- Feb 02.
