Norway’s 31-year old Fredrik Bjerkeengen has announced his retirement on the 16th of March.

Fredrik from Lillehammer had a long and varied career where he took part in club championships, national championships, junior championships and trial championships in ski flying. He was winner of overall Continental Cups both summer and winter (2013/2014) and has also stood on the podium with a mixed team at the summer Grand Prix in Chaikovsky in 2018. Bjerkeengen had also several jumps over 200 m and he was the first athlete to jump at the first edition of the Raw Air Tournament in 2017.

It was a very crazy trip I have been on with much blood, sweat and tears. However the most of it was happiness because I could do something I love. In the past 15 years of my career I was surrounded by the best ski jumpers in the country. I am very proud of my CV and I can put my skis away in good conscience. – wrote Bjerkeengen on his facebook page.
