Adam Małysz, one of the best ski jumpers in history, announced in social media that his coronavirus test had been positive.

Adam Małysz lives in Silesian Voivodeship, which is the most affected region in Poland with more than 37% of total cases. On Monday he informed his fans about the positive test, performed after meeting another infected person. Fortunately, he hasn’t got any COVID-19 disease symptoms yet.

Here’s what he wrote in Instagram and Facebook:

Hello dear all.

I’m starting the week with not too good news. After one of the people I had contact with in recent days had a positive Covid-19 test result, I decided to undergo a coronavirus test. It turned out that I had been infected with the coronavirus. Fortunately, for now the disease is without symptoms. I hope that it will be so until the recovery.

Procedures in this situation have also started, including quarantine and informing people I met. I’m also writing about the infection here to protect others and limit the spread of the virus. It is important that everyone who had contact with me in the last days, shall be tested and take the necessary precautions in such circumstances.

As you know, I follow the safety rules, but it turns out that it’s not enough. Let this situation be a warning to you – take care of yourself and be careful.

No other coronavirus case in Polish team is known. We’ll keep you up to date about the situation.
