After the SGP competitions in Austria were cancelled in the previous weeks, the German venue Klingenthal took the same decision.

The committee stated that there is no chance of fulfilling health regulations like keeping enough distance between both athletes and spectators.

“Currently, our main goal is to create concepts for the competitions in winter as well as the Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf. I am sure we are going to find valid solutions (…) in order to carry out all competitions.”

Dr. Franz Steinle, president of the German Ski Federation, thus gives a positive outlook for the upcoming winter season. However, the time needed to prepare the venue for the SGP competition, is too short. Too many questions stay unanswered. Steinle stated furthermore:

“The safety and health of the competitors and spectators is most important to us. That is why we just need time to create concepts and prove them. We decided with a heavy heart to cancel the summer competitions. In the meantime, we concentrate on finding solutions for the winter season.”
