Viktor Polasek (CZE) had a perfect start into the summer season as he won the men’s COC in Frenstat on Friday. Mika Schwann (AUT) and Philipp Raimund (GER) shared the podium with the Czech.
Polasek jumped 104m and 105m which led him to the victory with a total of 266.9 points. Mika Schwann from Austria was only 0.7 points behind. He landed on 105.5m and 102.5m, thus maintaining his second place after the first round. Philipp Raimund (GER) completed the podium after having jumped 100.5m and 102m (261p.).
Jernej Presecnik was the best Slovenian in this competition, but missed the podium on the fourth place. He jumped 103m and 102m (257.1p.). Maciej Kot (POL; 102.5m & 102m) and Andrew Urlaub (USA; 101.5m & 101.5m) shared the fifth place since both gained 256.7 points.
The Austrians had a very successful day at the hill, with Markus Müller (100.5m & 102m; 255.9p.) and Stefan Rainer (99m & 102m; 252.2p.) on the 7th and 8th place respectively. Robin Pedersen secured the Norwegian team a place in the TOP10 by finishing 9th (100m & 97.5m; 250.3p.). The Estonian Kevin Maltsev rounded off the best ten jumpers (98m & 105m; 248.6p.).
Slovenia’s Marcel Strzinar (101 & 98.5m; 247.9p.) and Zak Mogel (97.5m & 96.5m; 231.2p.) completed the team’s result on the 11th and 28th place.
The standings of the COC have remained largely unchanged. Therefore, Eetu Nousiainen remains the leader with 202p., followed by Philipp Raimund (170p.) and David Siegel (157p.).
Tomorrow, on Saturday, 14th August, the second competition will take place at 10:00 CET. The women will have the qualification in Frenstat at 18:00 CET later that day.
